What is it like living in San Diego?

What are the nicest areas in San Diego? I will be attending San Diego State next year as a transfer student and I want to know what are the good areas, the bad areas, and a bit about San Diego and the type of people that live there. Also, what is it like living in Coronado Island? Is it hard to find a job in San Diego?
Also, how is the traffic there?
I am not living off of my parents money. I am moving to SD with my boyfriend, but thanks.

Finding a job is hard anywhere, these days.

Coronado is expensive. Traffic sucks and we have very little effective public transportation – but there is a trolley through SDSU. City Heights is a bad area. Lemon Grove, La Mesa and El Cajon are nicer areas. Clairemont Mesa, Kearny Mesa are nice. If price is no object, La Jolla is real nice.

I think you are living in a dream world. It doesn’t sound like you are paying your own way.

So, your parents want you to live in a nice area. Okay, you live in Casa de Oro, it’s close to SDSU. Rents are $1500 per month for an apartment. $2500 for a small house.

Don’t live below, South, of I-8 it is lower income, more breakins etc.

Live with a roommate. To save money and to be more secure.

If you can afford it live in La Jolla. Apts. are $2000 per month and houses run around $5000. Out of your price range? Yep. I thought it might be.

Bottom line. Have your parents call a realtor to scope out the area for you. That’s what they are paid to do.

Type of people who live here? White. Black, Hispanic and Asian. It’s a big city, people from all over the globe live here.

People always ask about the good and bad areas. Why???? It all depends upon where you live and work. Sure you are a student, so why don’t you ask about the good and bad streets surrounding SDSU, instead of all of San Diego? Are you sure you are mature enough to leave home???
