American Airlines customers from Coronado and the region faced flight delays at Lindbergh Field and other airports across the country Tuesday due to a problem with the company’s computerized reservation system.
The carrier publicly disclosed the problem in the late morning and then grounded all flights around midday pending further notice.
About 1:30 p.m. PDT, the airline announced that the glitch had been fixed, but advised that flight delays and cancellations were likely to continue through the rest of the day.
Authorities advised travelers to call to check on the status of their flights before heading to the airport.
The airline stated that it was “important to note we see no evidence that today’s technical outage is related to (Monday’s) tragic events in Boston.”
