Tearing down the Coronado Springs Resort at WDW?

We just returned home from Disney over the weekend. One day we were riding the bus (we were the only ones on there) and I commented about all of the construction they were doing. Our driver said that they were going to be tearing down the Coronado, too. I’ve never stayed there before, but always thought it was a beautiful resort. Has anyone else heard this, or have an idea of why they might be tearing it down?
"g" just becuase a menu is getting upgrades does not mean it will never shut down. Ooh, so they are substituting a hot dog with a hot dog and cheese… ok, so I guess that means it’s set in stone that CSR will never close. In addition to that, the restaurants at CSR are owned by an outside company, which is why they offer differnt foods and prices on items at that resort. And as for the cast member staying there in the spring… big deal. The driver said they were GOING TO BE tearing it down not that that theyARE ALREADY tearing it down.

This is the first I’m hearing about this. I get info on Walt Disney World from many reliable sources every day, but this is a new one. I’m not saying it’s not true though. You heard it from a Cast Member, and I am no longer a Cast Member, so he’d have more inside info than I would.

It’s unfortunate if it’s true, though it isn’t my favorite WDW resort at all. I have stayed there more than once. While I enjoyed my time there, the resort never was able to give me that "Disney Feel" if you know what I mean.

CSR is also Disney’s only moderately priced convention hotel, (The Contemporary is a more expensive convention hotel) and thousands of conventioneers use it all the time. If this rumor is true, Disney must have another option to accommodate this type of traveler.

That is not true. There is a rumored shopping center being built by Disney in that area but they’re not tearing down an entire resort. Coronado Springs is not only used for Disney guests but they also benefit from company’s using the space for conventions as well.

This makes no sense to me since they’re currently remodeling the rooms. Perhaps the CM misunderstood or got his/her information wrong.

Here’s an update: I called Disney to plan our next vacation and asked about this rumor while I had the agent on the phone. She was extremely knowledgeable, stayed at Coronado Springs this past March, and informed me that Disney has no such plans to tear it down. She even mentioned the menu is being updated in the various eateries at the resort. I think that’s enough info to put this rumor to rest.

I stayed thee last year and it was very nice and not that old to be tearing down and seeing I live in florida it would have been on the news which I watch every night so as far as I can see there has been no mention of it, maybe he said this seeing they might remodel part of it.
It would cost so much to tear down the whole complex and rebuid I couldn’t see where it would be worth while to do, there are so many buildings there it doesn;t make any sense doing that.
