Police are investigating two traffic accidents that occurred on the streets of Coronado over the Christmas weekend.
A blue 2001 Isuzu Rodeo lost control on Coronado Cays Boulevard Saturday around 7 p.m., went across a soccer field and through the top portion of a wall, landing on the center divider in the 6000 block of Silver Strand Boulevard. The sole occupant was taken to UCSD Medical Center for evaluation of internal injuries, according to Sgt. Matthew Mitchell of the Coronado Police Department.
No information was available about how the driver of the Isuzu lost control or if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
Several hours later on the other side of the island, an apparent hit-and-run involving parked cars was reported to police at 2:05 a.m. Sunday morning on the corner of Glorietta Boulevard and Second Street. Mitchell said the security department of the Marriott Resort reported the accident, which occurred right in front of the property.
Two cars parked on the street sustained heavy damage from the impact and a third was involved but seemed to avoid serious damage.
