Have you been to BE Styled yet? It’s a little removed from my regular haunts and it took me a while to discover it. I actually walked by it one night going from The Coronado Yacht Club up to Village Pizzaria for some early dinner. There is was, its glory being illuminated by spotlights with a big fat CLOSED sign on the front door.
It took me a few days, but I finally managed to escape my children for an hour and I made my way back over to BE Styled, this time during its regular business hours. I have to say, Coronado has needed a store like this for a long time. The owners, Barbara (the B) and Elena (the E) have hit the nail on the head with the perfect blend of quality clothing at affordable prices.
Did you know that one of the best ways to judge a store’s merchandise is to analyze the owner’s own personal style? Barbara happened to be working the first time I shopped there, and when I saw her boots I had a little adrenaline rush and my heart nearly skipped a beat. They were the most perfect knee-high brown Frye boots I had ever seen. Another good sign that she’s got great style? Her kids steal her clothes. So you know that BE Styled’s merchandise is going to be spot on.
I could go on and on about the amazing accessories, perfect sweater tops and stylish cocktail dresses, but there is another reason I love giving BE Styled my business: Barbara and Elena are local moms who started their business from the ground up. They first started shopping for their friends just as a hobby, which quickly escalated into launching a shopping-party business, which has now grown into a brick-and-mortar store in their very own town. I love local business and I love momtrepreneurs!
In case BE Styled hasn’t made it onto your radar just yet, it’s located in a charming retail studio a few blocks from the Hotel Del and across the street from Bino’s European Coffee and Crepes. I may or may not enjoy indulging in a little retail therapy followed by a Nutella crepe from time to time. I also may or may not be plotting an elaborate hoist of Barbara’s precious boots.
