New Gates Open as Part of San Diego Airport’s $1 Billion Expansion

Entrance to San Diego International Airport.

A half-dozen gates in the expanded Terminal 2 at Lindbergh Field went into operation this week.

The gates are temporarily serving Delta Airlines. According to the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, the usual Delta gates are going to be refurbished.

Permanent gate assignments will be decided later.

Opening of the full $1 billion expanded section of Terminal 2 is scheduled for this summer. The new area will have four gates in addition to the ones that just opened, extra dining and shopping options, and a dual level roadway for arrivals and departures.
