Navy Runway Construction Complete in IB, Regular Operations to Resume

Current helicopters will be phased out and replaced with MH-60R Seahawk and MH-60S Knighthawk helicopters as part of the wing realignment plan.

Construction on the southern runway at Naval Outlying Landing Field Imperial Beach finished last week and flights from the runway will resume Tuesday, the Navy said.

Over the past few months operations moved to the northern runway, which is closer to homes bordering the field and half the size of the southern runway. Here’s more about the construction project.

Residents nearby should notice a reduction in noise, the Navy said.

If you have a noise abatement complaint or see a violation of a helicopter’s flight path call 619-545-8233 or submit a noise complaint form online.
