Registration starts Monday for the 2013 Loews Coronado Bay Surf Dog Competition.
The surf series, now in its eighth year, will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 22. The competition has been moved from Dunes Park slightly south to near the north side of the Imperial Beach Pier.
At last year’s competition three world records were set including the most dogs riding a surfboard at one time.
About 40 dogs and their owners are expected to participate to a crowd of thousands this year, Loews Coronado Bay said.
Money raised at the competition will be donated to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
As the U.S. Supreme Court weighed the destiny of Proposition 8 and the Defense of Marriage Act, champion surf dog Ricochet stood up for equal rights and gay marriage, IB Patc reported last week.
