Chris Sams left Baltimore in August with the goal of reaching San Diego. On foot.
It’s not the way most of us would try to make a cross-country trek, but the personal trainer achieved his goal this week. He will celebrate his success Saturday at a 3 p.m. party at the Hotel del Coronado.
In a note on his site, he explained that he first had the idea for such a trip five years ago when he was 23, but he wasn’t sure when he would set out to accomplish it.
“What I did know was that I had always been fascinated by the human body and how ordinary people could push their bodies to the limit and accomplish amazing feats of mental and physical strength,” he wrote.
Sams’ journey benefitted the Wounded Warrior Project, Soles for Souls and the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults.
