A Great Escape that Gives You a Break and Enriches Your Child’s Life

This week’s Great Escape is so, well… great, that I can’t believe I didn’t think of it before!

Have you heard of The Learning Playhouse yet? I first caught wind of this local center for children’s classes about a year and a half ago. I started sending my oldest there twice a week for music, art and “playschool” classes to get her warmed up for preschool. We had such a positive experience there that I’ve already got plans to get my 1-year-old started over there next year.

My oldest always attended the Learning Playhouse classes during the week. Well, little did I know that they also offer a little music class on Saturdays from 10-10:45 a.m. That’s just enough time to grab a cup of coffee and read a magazine! I don’t know about the rest of you, but that’s one of my favorite ways to veg out.

Here’s the plan: Call Brittani from The Learning Playhouse and get your kid signed up for a Saturday morning music class (ages 2-7). After you drop them off, high tail it right over to Cafe 1134 for a cup of coffee and a mid-morning snack. Maybe you’ll use the time to read a magazine, or you might want to meet up with a girlfriend, or maybe you can try to squeeze in some adult conversation with your spouse. What a concept!

While you are busy getting properly caffeinated, your little guy will be busy expanding his mind with singing, dancing and learning to play musical instruments. If you’re lucky, he’ll be so tired from all that playing and learning that he might wind up taking an extra long nap. Score!

I should also note that The Learning Playhouse ffers their “Fante’s Club” class from 11-1 on Saturdays (ages 3-7) in case you need to squeeze a mani/pedi in, too.

Have a great weekend everyone!
