Stamp Out Hunger: Letter Carriers to Pick Up Canned Goods for the Needy

Donating to food banks will be as easy as leaving a bag of non-perishable food by the mailbox on Saturday, when letter carriers in Coronado and across the nation will be collecting donations for the annual Stamp Out Hunger program. To participate, simply leave a bag with canned food and other items that don't need refrigeration by the mailbox. Suggested items include: Canned fruits and vegetables Pasta Cereal Rice Fruit juice in plastic containers. Naval Base Coronado received a top national honor from Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel for its approach to dealing with threatened species at Naval Air Station North Island and seven other locations.
