It appears unlikely that someone can do here what the Journal News did Saturday in New York state: Post an interactive map showing the names and addresses of every licensed handgun owner in two counties. [Read the Journal News article.]  That brought a violent reaction—mostly against the outing of the owners. One blogger posted the addresses and home phone numbers of newspaper staffers. In California, the Public Records Act exempts home addresses of certain licensees from disclosure. Sailors Seek Millions From Japanese Utility TEPCO Over Radiation Fears

Sailors and their relatives have sued a Japanese-owned utility, accusing the company of failing to tell the truth about the true dangers following the 2011 failure of the Fukushima nuclear plant, according to reports. Stars and Stripes is reporting that a group of sailors from the Coronado-based USS Ronald Reagan have filed suit in San Diego's U.S. District Court alleging that because of misleading information released by the Tokyo Electric Power Company, their lives could be cut short because they were exposed to harmful levels of radiation.  The aircraft carrier was dispatched to Japan to offer humanitarian aid in the wake of the March 2011 disaster, which was prompted by an earthquake and the resulting tsunami.  Stars and Stripes named the plaintiffs – Lindsay Cooper

The city has added concierge service for beach weddings – two city staffers, Natalie Soulard and Jeff Rosenthal, have been enlisted to enforce the new beach wedding policy that went into effect Sept. 1. Though their duties are unusual for city employees, people who have worked with them are more than pleased with how they've performed. “Natalie and Jeff are wonderful,” said wedding planner Aline Rozok. Gas Prices Set Holiday Record

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose to a record amount for Christmas for the third consecutive year, increasing two-tenths of a cent to $3.583, erasing the previous record of $3.563 set last year. Prices are typically lower in the winter than the summer, when higher demand pushes prices up. The record price is $4.725, set on Oct. 8. The record came despite decreases for 74 of the previous 77 days that dropped the price to its lowest amount since Dec. 27, 2011, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. Poll: Should Feds Move to Place Armed Guards at Every Public School?

Wayne LaPierre, leader of the National Rifle Association, fought Sunday on Meet the Press to defend himself and his call for armed security guards in every public school. “If it's crazy to call for armed officers in our schools to protect our children, then call me crazy,” LaPierre said. “I think the American people think it’s crazy not to do it. It’s the one thing that would keep people safe." LaPierre also shot back at those calling for an assault weapons ban, saying such laws are ineffective and: “I don’t think it would make one difference.” Would a “good guy with a gun” in tens of thousands of public schools as the NRA suggests help prevent another Newtown?
