Poll: What’s the Best Way Forward for GOP: Reboot or Stay the Course?

coronado home
U-T San Diego recently quoted Carl DeMaio as saying: “In the Republican Party, they are freaked out; they are depressed. But in losses, if you analyze and learn, it can be a creative time, a time of renewal, rebirth.” But county GOP chairman Tony Krvaric saw things differently from DeMaio, who lost the San Diego mayor race to Democrat Bob Filner. Krvaric told the U-T: “The future of the Republican Party lies in not changing but reaffirming our principles by returning to our liberty oriented roots and taking that message to all Americans with renewed vigor.” So which path is best for the GOP: Stay the course or find a new strategy? What are some of the most beautiful places in Southern California?

coronado home
What are some of the most beautiful scenery places in southern california? Does anyone recommend any? Since SoCal is a desert, you don't have a lot of forest like you do in Norcal. Some of the beauty can be desert scenes, beaches, as well as urban settings. -Sunset at just about any beach in Sucal. My favorites are Capinteria and Huntington Beach, with La Jolla and San Clemente next. -The view of Los Angeles from above. Good viewing points are Griffith Observatory and Mount Hollywood, Mulholland Drive, and Angeles Crest Highway. -The desert in bloom: Driving from LA to Vegas or Laughlin, the roads are lined with wildflowers in February and March. And near Palmdale, the poppy fields are in bloom. -Despite the fact that the San Diego Trolls invade this forum and constantly put LA down, I...

Dense Fog Expected Through Saturday and Sunday Mornings

coronado home
The dense fog that rolled in along the San Diego County coast could be hazardous for drivers and cause airport delays through Saturday morning, the National Weather Service reported, and the process is likely to repeat Sunday. A very shallow marine layer started to move inland along the northern beaches Friday afternoon then spread inland, where areas of dense fog were developing, according to the NWS. Forecasters issued an advisory set to remain in effect until 9 a.m. Saturday, though the fog might not clear completely until late morning. "A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be reduced to less than one quarter-mile," the statement said. "If driving, slow down, use your headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of you." The weather service ...

Where would be a nice place for a weekend vacation in Southern California?

coronado home
It's my wife's birthday this weekend. I would like to take her on a weekend two days and one night trip. Any idea? San Diego, it's so beautiful there. Lots of great shopping and dining. Horton Plaza has great shops, Sea Port Village is really fun and the Gas Lamp quarter has tons of restaurants and bars. Coronado Island is really fun too and all your have to do is take a bridge to get there. You also might want to consider Laguna or Huntington Beach... there is a really nice Hyatt right by the beach with a bridge that drops you off in the sand.
