  Since I wrote about ACL tears and rehabilitation options, I have talked to several people who have recovered from ACL or other knee injuries but are now afraid to return to their sport or physical activity for fear of re-injuring their knee. Before we can talk about how to get athletes back on the field, it's important to understand and recognize what the athletes may be going through while they are injured. Coronadan Leads Big Bay Parade

  It was a fine day for a parade, with no sign of the December cold snap in evidence. The sun shown brightly on the Big Bay Balloon Parade, as tens of thousands of people lined Harbor Drive's sidewalks and medians to view oversized depictions of cartoon characters, from the old, like Betty Boop, to the new, like Woody from the “Toy Story” franchise.  Retired Vice Admiral and former POW Edward Martin, of Coronado, led as grand marshal of the show which, of course, included college and high school bands – and floats for the Holiday Bowl participants, the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Texas.  Events conencted to the parade included a 5K, a race for speedy dachshunds and a festival on the bayfront.
