A man whose dream is to ensure the dreams of children come true is enough to make Patch's 30 Under 30 cut. Michael Bodman, who is the city of Carlsbad's recreation supervisor, said his job is "perfect" for what he's always wanted to do. "It is my dream to make a difference in the lives of youth and teens," said the 28-year-old. "I wanted to create a safe place for them to come where they could learn about themselves, others and the community; feel good about themselves and their accomplishments; and begin to think about and create dreams for the future. I wanted to create a place where they are given the tools to make a difference in themselves and the community plus assist them to develop skills to make some of their dreams come true." Bodman said his future goal...

New Zahau Autopsy Set for Friday

coronado home
The new autopsy long sought by Rebecca Zahau's loved ones will happen Friday, according to broadcast reports. ABC.com is reporting that Dr. Cyril Wecht, who has publicly criticized investigators' findings, will conduct the exam Friday in Pittsburgh. Wecht, who has consulted on numerous high profile cases, is a clinical professor at the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Medicine, Dental Medicine, and Graduate School of Public Health. Meanwhile, Forbes magazine has weighed in about the involvement of Dr. Phil McGraw, which the family has said is supporting their pursuit of further investigation. A columnist called it “just creepy” for the talk show host to take part in the case and raised the spectre of the classic film Network to boost her point. Zahau died at th

Friday Night Lights: Week 9 Prep Football Preview

coronado home
There are plenty of great matchups to keep prep football fans on the edge of their seats this weekend, starting with the Grossmont Valley League game pitting 6-1 Mount Miguel at 8-0 Santana. Both are 2-0 in the league and the winner should end up as GVL champ. The Matadors, No. 8 in this week's Sportswriters-Sportscasters Poll, have lost only to Helix, while the Sultans, just outside the top 10, want to prove they belong in it. No. 1 Helix (6-1) hasn't had much trouble since its season-opening loss to Eastlake, but host Valhalla (5-2) hopes to give them some in a Grossmont Hills contest, despite a tough loss to Steele Canyon last week. In another GHL game that features two teams with winning records, Grossmont (4-2-1) visits Granite Hills (4-3), though both are 0-2 in l...

Where is there an executive golf course or driving range close to Coronado Island?

coronado home
I'm going to be staying there for the weekend, and I'd like to hit some balls. Nothing fancy, just somewhere to hit balls... Well in Coronado, you got the Coronado Golf Course which is probaly the cheapest 18 hole regulation course in all of San Diego which is $30 on the weekdays, and $35 on the weekends if you want to walk. It used to be only $28 everyday, but now it's raised up. It's a good price for golf in an 18 hole regulation course in San Diego since the most of the other courses are more than $50. There is a couple that is like $40, but the rest are at least $70 to play in. It's a Par 72 course by the bay, and for only $30-$35 it's like the best deal, and they also have a driving range. It's the only place in San Diego if you want to play cheap golf. Well if you just want to play ...
