Where should I stay on my Cali vacation?!?

coronado home
I'm going to California for the first time to visit my b/f over fall break. He's stationed at the base in Coronado. I'm trying to figure out if I should stay on Coronado island, or somewhere nearby, but I'm not sure about a rental car. There don't seem to be as many quality, affordable places in Coronado as there are in San Diego, and surrounding areas. I'm open to suggestions from anyone who is familiar with the area. Coronado is very expensive and getting around San Diego without a car is difficult. Getting to Coronado by bus will take hours. You really need a car in So Cal. Your best bet might be the Holiday Inn on the harbor in downtown San Diego. They have decent room rates and Coronado is right across the harbor. http://www.hisandiegodowntown.com/ There is water taxi on the harbor ...

San Diego: Old Town main street

coronado home
Another day of discoveries was in store. I started my explorations across the street from the Transit Centre at the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. This area contains some original buildings and many replicas of San Diegos Mexican-era architecture and is the most visited state park in California. Five original adobe buildings are part of this historical complex, and other historic buildings illustrate life in early San Diego. The Plaza del Pasado and Old Town Plaza lead into a complex of adobe buildings that form a large interior courtyard. The buildings design, the decorations and the tropical vegetation indeed imbue this space with a very Mexican-inspired atmosphere. This complex features retail stores, galleries and restaurants, and many colourful Mexican-style items such a...

Dover Buzz on Steroids! Wheelock Fire Alarms in Coronado Hall

coronado home
I wasn't forewarned of this, but my dorm had a fire drill. The residence halls at UNM are required to conduct fire drills once a semester, and they're usually at the beginning of each semester. I was in my dorm room as soon as the alarms went off. The alarms are Wheelock EHS-DL1-WM horn/strobe combo alarms. Note, only the first part of the video is inside. This is my first fire alarm video in a month since I jammed with my Wheelock 7002T on my string bass. Btw, the MTs in Coronado are obviously louder than my Wheelock 7002T-24, which is 87 dBs at 10 feet. My estimate is that the MTs are about the same loudness as the Gentex Commander 3 horn/strobe alarms.Duration : 0:5:15 (more…)
