San Diego commute question?

coronado home
I will be moving to East Chula Vista in December. The area I will be living is on East Palamor Dr. I will have to drive to work is at North Island Naval base. I checked mapquest and others the route shown takes me up I-805 to 54 west to I-5 and on the Coronado Bridge. Since I've been told the bridge is a mess in the morning is this the fastest way to go or should I go around the Silver Strand up by the beaches the back way? How long would it take me to do that commute in the morning? General rule of thumb for southern California is to take the amount of time Yahoo maps tells you and multiply it by 1.5 for no traffic, and 2 if there is traffic.

San Diego

CaliforniaTravelExpert.com host Veronica Hill shares her San Diego travel video in this episode of "California Travel Tips." San Diego California is home to more activities per square mile than perhaps any other place in the world. This laid-back surfer town is packed with hotels, restaurants and attractions, making it a great choice for any budget. And with an average summer temperature of about 70 degrees, you don't need to do any heavy packing. San Diego is extremely casual, so flip flops and sundresses are standard attire around most of the city. Be sure to plan at least 3 days to explore — but a week is even better. Most San Diego hotels offer great discount packages. Some even include free tickets to San Diego attractions, so don't be shy about asking. If you only have one day in San

Renting in San Diego?

coronado home
My husband and I are looking for a nice apartment in either Coronado or San Diego area close by, he is stationed at Naval base North Island and we are so tired of looking on line at rent.com. We want something nice, comfortable and actually livable. We are willing to spent up to $2000 a month including utilities, something we would like include; AC, W/D hookup, wooden floors, patio/backyard/ convenient parking, and pets allowed would be nice. We're not asking for all of these but we would like some of them. We want real answers from real people because we are tired of websites that really don't tell us anything and pictures that are 3 mega pixels. Thank you so much and I really look forward to hearing some suggestions! We are a quiet, young married couple who just want a nice relaxed place...

Why not just re-open Alcatraz as a prison again and move Gitmo out there?

coronado home
Is Obama really serious about closing Gitmo or is his level of seriousness dependent on whether or not he can get some other country to deal with the combatants for him? If he's really serious, why hasn't this man who is allegedly so superior in intelligence than the rest of us just taken Alcatraz off the National Parks list and moved them all out there? As I see it there are several benefits to using that facility. Here are just a few: 1.) It's Federal property. 2.) It can house more than 300 inmates and there are only 240 at Gitmo. 3.) It shouldn't take our military engineers and construction crews more than a few weeks to get it ready to move into. After all, they built Gitmo pretty much from scratch. 4.) They could use the lighthouse as their primary watchtower. 5.) The prisoner...
